Little Z Turns Two

I was recently honored to photograph, I think, possibly one of the cutest little kids in the Lake Norman area. Zachariah (aka “Little Z” as I call him) just turned two and was seriously so cute I wanted to squeeze him. Also, any client phone call that basically begins with, “I want quality professional prints!” makes me want to reach through the phone and give them a big ol’ bear hug, and that’s exactly how it started with Sarah. I absolutely adored my time with this sweet family. Their story is so precious and wonderful. Anyone who has followed me for a while knows I have a soft spot for adoption, so you can imagine my reaction when Sarah told me Little Z’s adoption story. He was very blessed to have these two as his parents, because they have the biggest hearts. Some families just radiate comfort and love, and this was one of those.

What made me love this session even more was that they wanted to have it take place at their home here in Lake Norman. I love a good home session, especially when their yard is this beautiful. Any parent of a toddler who just turned two knows that it’s unrealistic to expect them to pose nicely for the camera. Thankfully, I never ask that of my tiny clients. I prefer to capture them as they are… swinging, playing soccer, giving momma kisses, superman poses, ALL of it. That’s what makes those toddler years so special!!

I loved everything about Little Z’s session. He is one beautiful boy, and I can’t wait to continue documenting him as he grows. I’m currently designing his album, which is a lot of fun for me. Sarah also happens to be an interior designer, and I always adore working with a fellow creative. Watching her mind work as she picked the right portrait for her walls, the color of album that complimented her home… it was fascinating and so fun to brainstorm with her. I was also honored to meet her mother who came to their ordering appointment. I kind of want to adopt her as my own mom (no offense, actual mom). They both picked gorgeous heirloom albums with cameo covers, one of my personal favorites. But I think one of my favorite things about their ordering appointment was their slideshow. Tissues were definitely passed around. It even had me teary-eyed. I love creating these, and I’m so thankful to Songfreedom for making these so fun to make. Grab a tissue and check out even more photos from Little Z’s session.
