NoDa Family Session
I always love seeing what Jody will come up with each year for their family session, and she definitely didn’t disappoint for this one! This year, she was inspired by real life events and decided to use their session to send a positive message. Her kids donned adorable tees: Allie in a “Smart Girls Club” and Matthew in “Boys will be
boys… Good Humans”. LOVE it. Not only because it’s a great statement, but it really does represent these little guys well. Allie is a bit on the shy, quiet side, and is so sweet and very bright. She’s also incredibly creative, often making bracelets, cards, or some other craft to give away to friends. Matthew is one of the most polite little boys I’ve ever met. This entire idea was perfect for them.
We met in NoDa, where we felt like the area would match the vibe she was going for really well. I’ve said it before, but this place is absolutely one of my favorite places to photograph families and seniors. Everyone is just so nice and accommodating. While we were there, the fire fighters were relaxing out front, chatting with locals and enjoying the gorgeous day. They even asked if we’d like a few pictures on the fire truck… who can say no to that??
I’ve even had total strangers offer up their table, so that we could grab a quick shot. It’s both people and pet friendly. I’ve been known to accidentally trip over the dog bowls scattered throughout the area. 🙂 Throw in the endless photo opportunities, and it’s perfect, especially if you have a bit of a creative side. Jody and her family definitely do. Along with the other crafts they’ve done together, tie-dying shirts has been an ongoing one. Since I already knew this about them, I made sure to take them to one of my most recent favorite walls… a tie-dye mural!!
It also happens to be Jody and Matt’s 10 year anniversary! So while we were doing family photos, I went ahead and grabbed a few of them together. They’re such a cute couple. 🙂
I think the most amazing part of photographing these guys every year is that they make my job so easy. Jody puts so much thought and planning into each of her sessions, and it totally pays off. From the color scheme to the themes, she nails it every year. It also helps that the kids are some of the most well behaved, photogenic kids ever. They naturally fall into poses without me giving them any direction. Towards the end of our time, they decided to throw me some Calvin Klein kid model poses. I swear, all I did was tell them to sit down against the wall together. It was amazing. haha.
I just love this family. They’re so fun to photograph every time, and I always look forward to seeing what Jody comes up with next.
