While I don’t specialize in newborn sessions, I do make room for a couple every year, especially for people who are really special to me. I’ve known Chad and his family since I was little. His parents lived in the same neighborhood as mine, and his older sister babysat me as a kid. Chad and his wife recently moved back to the Huntersville area, so I was super excited for the opportunity to photograph their sweet baby Rachel.
Rachel was the absolute dream baby when it came to their session. As the photographer, you really never know what to expect with newborns. They could be having a fussy day, a sleepy day, or a very alert day, or a “I hate all of you” type of day. Lol. Thankfully, Rachel was so precious and happy. One of the reasons I only provide lifestyle sessions is because it helps with the overall stress level for everyone. While having a professional photographer in your home might be different, the overall daily routine doesn’t have to change.
Poor Lyn developed major carpel tunnel syndrome during her pregnancy, which carried over into the few weeks following baby Rachel’s arrival. Because of this, she wasn’t able to pick her up on her own. But we found some work-arounds that allowed her to still get some sweet mommy-baby photos. Chad happens to be a bit of a Star Wars fan. 😉 We made sure to incorporate that into the session as well.
I had such a blast with this family. Baby Rachel is so beautiful. It’s going to be fun documenting her as she grows as well. That’s probably my favorite part of capturing families.
