Birthday Session – Davidson NC

Birthday Session | Wildflower Photography, Davidson NC Family Photographer

This sweet little face will probably look familiar to some followers. I became Zechariah’s family photographer last year for his two year birthday session, and it has been such a delight to watch this little guy grow. Last year, they chose to have a back yard session at their home in Davidson. For his three year birthday session, they chose to stick with the theme.

I love back yard sessions so much and here’s why:

  1. It adds a personal touch. While on location shoots are obviously lovely, there’s something special about having your family documented in your space. You can incorporate favorite pastimes and family activities. For Zechariah, that’s taking the trail to the pond and playing on his play set. Birthday Session | Wildflower Photography, Davidson NC Family PhotographerBirthday Session | Wildflower Photography, Davidson NC Family PhotographerBirthday Session | Wildflower Photography, Davidson NC Family PhotographerBirthday Session | Wildflower Photography, Davidson NC Family PhotographerBirthday Session | Wildflower Photography, Davidson NC Family PhotographerBirthday Session | Wildflower Photography, Davidson NC Family PhotographerBirthday Session | Wildflower Photography, Davidson NC Family Photographer
  2. Kids open up faster. One of the reasons I don’t do mini sessions is that it often takes kids (and sometimes adults) a good 15-20 minutes to warm up and find their groove with me. By the time this happens, the mini is over! If your kids are on the shy side… or just find new situations overwhelming… having a session at your home will automatically take some of the awkwardness out of it. Instead of them feeling they’re coming into my space, I am being invited into theirs. They warm up quicker, because they’re excited to show me their toys or interact with me. They’re already comfortable, which allows their natural personality to shine through much faster.Birthday Session | Wildflower Photography, Davidson NC Family PhotographerBirthday Session | Wildflower Photography, Davidson NC Family PhotographerBirthday Session | Wildflower Photography, Davidson NC Family PhotographerBirthday Session | Wildflower Photography, Davidson NC Family PhotographerBirthday Session | Wildflower Photography, Davidson NC Family PhotographerBirthday Session | Wildflower Photography, Davidson NC Family Photographer
  3. It’s different. I have many locations that I love using, but there’s something so fun about walking into a new place that can’t be copied or repeated by anyone else. This will absolutely be unique to you and your family. In Zechariah’s case, that included using his great-grandmother’s iron bench. And of course some ice cream sandwiches. 🙂Birthday Session | Wildflower Photography, Davidson NC Family PhotographerBirthday Session | Wildflower Photography, Davidson NC Family PhotographerBirthday Session | Wildflower Photography, Davidson NC Family PhotographerBirthday Session | Wildflower Photography, Davidson NC Family PhotographerBirthday Session | Wildflower Photography, Davidson NC Family PhotographerBirthday Session | Wildflower Photography, Davidson NC Family Photographer

Zechariah is seriously the cutest little guy!! His parents are equally as wonderful and so fun to work with. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know this awesome family, and I hope to continue documenting them for many years to come.

Fall is just around the corner and my schedule fills quickly! Ready to plan your family session?
