Camp North End Family Session
One of my favorite families is back! I’ve loved documenting them every year since I began. Melanie always puts so much effort into planning their family session, and with six kids, that’s no easy feat! This year, they decided to try something a little different. This is the first year they’ve chosen to do more Christmasy colors for their outfits. They also decided to go out on a limb and try a new location for their family session: Camp North End!
I’ve been here before for a senior (eventually to be blogged… I’m so behind! haha), and when Melanie asked me about Camp North End, I was all for it! It’s always fun to try new locations. While I love having a routine and knowing exactly where light will fall and when, I also enjoy a good challenge. Their session date actually brought on its own set of challenges. All week we watched the forecast, and all week it was saying 100% rain for their day. Trying to reschedule another date for a family of eight… most of the kids being older and having their own commitments now… was going to be very difficult. But I also wanted Melanie to get the images she was hoping for. We texted back and forth all day and finally decided to just go for it. And I’m SO glad we did!
While it did end up being very overcast and chilly, the rain held off, and it ended up being an awesome session for these guys. This is exactly why I never call a session until the day of. You just never know what the weather is going to end up doing, and it ended up working out perfectly. I love all Camp North End has to offer, especially for family sessions and seniors. All of the murals, colors, cool art, and vintage touches just makes it super cool and different.
Their oldest Jack also happens to be a senior this year. Since he’s not exactly one to enjoy being in front of the camera, we decided to use a little of their family session time to incorporate some senior photos as well. This place is perfect for guy seniors. I really like using urban settings for my guys. There’s a lot more posing options when you have things like stairs, chain link fences, and a city skyline to work with. 😉
I absolutely love seeing this family every year. It’s crazy to see how much their kids have grown. They’re all such awesome people, and it’s truly an honor to document them year after year.
