Diva Headshot Day
I’ve posted a few times about the incredible female photography group I’m a part of, called the “Photog Divas”. We’re a small group, which is honestly the best. It is SO rare to find a group like ours where everyone is truly supportive. We send each other referrals. We rally behind each other, especially if one of us is having a hard time. I’ve grown leaps and bounds in my skill and business thanks to these ladies. Last year, we began doing a diva headshot day periodically. Not only is it important for us to have updated headshots (particularly since most of us prefer to hide from the lens haha), but it’s just so fun to have a day to play.
Last November, we all met up for another one. This time, we rented a cute little bungalow to get ready. This gave us more time to hang out and have a little fun before shooting. The amazing Cali Stott, Teri-Lyn Hiroshige, and Sabrina Simpson all made us feel so glamorous. Our main girl Critsey usually does the majority of the organizing, and she knocked it out of the park with this one.
It ended up being a cool, rainy day, but thankfully we’re all professionals. 😉 While waiting for the other girls to finish up, we took turns taking photos around that cute little house. We clearly LOVED that front porch, and I was really loving that blue!
After everyone was beautified, we headed to the Terrace at Cedar Hill. It’s a gorgeous venue and provided us a great space to shoot, especially since it was pretty wet outside. But the fog ended up being really awesome looking once the rain died off. Instead of constantly switching, we decided to draw names and stick to two other divas to shoot with. That kept things from getting too overwhelming and chaotic. I was so happy to get paired up with Piper Warlick and Jessica Henry. I’ve been internet friends with Piper for a few years now, and I met Jessica back when I just had Noah at home. I had such a blast with these gorgeous and talented ladies. We laughed and posed and bounced ideas and laughed some more.
These diva headshot days are so good for my soul. For one day, I get to talk about gear and settings and light until I’m blue in the face, and everyone is just as excited about it as me. Lol. I love getting to be creative without the pressure of expectations. You would think being in a room with this much talent would be intimidating, but instead, I willingly soak up whatever tips and tricks I can. We had such a fun time, and I can’t wait until the next one! I love hanging out with my divas, and I adore the photos Jessica and Piper captured for me.
