Family Home Session
I first met Kara when I only had a small toddler, and she had two adorable girls (and eventually a chubby baby boy). We were in the same mom morning Bible study at church, all desperate for social time and encouragement as we faced those early motherhood struggles. It feels like yesterday and a million years ago. I was so blessed to have her (and several other mom friends) at my table. It still remains one of the sweetest times of my life when I look back. I always appreciated her wisdom, honesty, humor, and determination to raise kind, responsible kids. Fast forward a few years, and her family table has grown by three beautiful kiddos. As it goes, life circumstances and major changes took hold and separated all of us ladies. My family moved, and she was busy adjusting to the idea of jumping from three to six children through adoption.
While every inquiry brings me hopeful excitement, there was a different kind of joy the second I saw Kara’s email, asking for a family session. I had truly missed this incredible lady, and often my job becomes an easy outlet for me to connect (and reconnect) with people. Kara and Rhett opted for a home session, which is one of my favorite types. It’s just such a great way to document real life. These are the images you’ll look back on and smile at how you had decorated the kitchen, the fun family activities you did together, and sweet moments of regular life happenings.
Aside from the obvious years of catching up, I was excited to finally meet their three additional babies. I can promise you they are just as adorable in person as they are here in photos. The girls are just stunning and rocked their individual portraits. And man, those smiles. If you weren’t captivated already, that’ll do it. Thankfully the rain held off that day, and we had a great time playing outside. They have such a cool back yard, complete with a zip line! And can we talk about their puppy for a sec? He literally looks like a tiny baby bear. They are obsessed with him, and I can understand why. SO cute.
It was also amazing to see how much their first three had grown. Eden and Cadence are true beauties. I can already see their teen selves slowly emerging, and they’re going to be insanely gorgeous. Kara, you better be calling me their senior year. 😉 And baby Shepherd. I remembered him as this roly-poly, happy baby, and to see him growing into this handsome little dude is just so cool.
We of course got several group shots of the family together. Towards the end of their home session, the kids were really getting into the whole photoshoot thing. They were tossing out fun ideas and being super silly in general. Kara also requested a few of just her and Rhett, which y’all know I was happy to oblige. 😉
I absolutely loved my time with this sweet family. It was truly an honor to capture their family home session for them.
