Family Reunion in Davidson
I’ve written before about how much I love large family sessions, especially when it’s a reunion that’s long overdue. This was the case when Kristen contacted me about a family shoot a little before Thanksgiving. She explained that this was the first time in years that they had all been together, and they really wanted to surprise their mom with a session to update their family portrait. It’s no secret that I adore shooting in Davidson, but for large family reunion style sessions, this favorite location of mine is perfect. There is a lot of room to spread out and the likelihood of having to dodge a lot of people is very slim, even during the busy Fall season.
When we got together for their shoot, they decided to tell me that it hadn’t just been a few years since they were all last together. It had been over FIFTEEN years! This was the first time “Nana” had even met some of her grandkids! No pressure, right? 😉
Honestly, what I loved most about Kristen and her mom were their laid back personalities. I didn’t have to set expectations for them, because they already knew the likelihood of having this many people (with this many kiddos) sitting still and smiling nicely for the camera was pretty slim. Lol. They told me they wanted me to just do my thing. Those are always the best words for me to hear, because it means they trust me. And when clients trust me, that’s when the magic happens.
I think my favorite part of photographing this fun family was seeing these cousins, who had basically just met for the first time, become instant best friends. You could just tell they were loving every minute of being together. They kept asking me to take their photos together, which of course I obliged. They were so incredibly cute!
