Galentine’s Day with Wildflower Model Team
Happy GALentines Day!!
If I’m being honest, I’ve never really been a huge fan of Valentine’s Day. I’ll leave my personal beliefs out of this so as not to bum you V-Day lovers out. Don’t get me wrong, I’m down for any reason to show people you love them. It just feels like a I-need-a-holiday-between-Christmas-and-Easter type day to me. However, the day before the 14th is a day I can get behind! Because who doesn’t love a reason to celebrate your best girls?? You can eat as much of whatever you want. You can talk about whatever you want. And the partnerless girls aren’t left out! Plus Amy Poehler. End of discussion.
In the spirit of “love week”, I thought I’d share some favorites from our most recent Wildflower Model Team shoot at the (now pretty well known locally) Confetti Hearts Wall. This adorable mural was painted by the lovely Evelyn Henson in the historic South End of Charlotte, NC. Even though it’s now received its fair share of social media fame, I still think it’s hands down my favorite mural in Charlotte right now. It’s bright, colorful, happy, and leaves a subtle positive message that everyone can get behind. I knew as soon as I saw it back in December, that I needed to take my Wildflower girls here for a fun, spontaneous model team shoot.
For you ladies that have recently joined the team or are considering applying, I occasionally will message the team and see if anyone is up for a spontaneous shoot. We pick a day that the majority can make it and go with that (or I’ll even just have one girl come in to help me play with new lighting gear). This was one of those days, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out!! Even though it was cloudy and FREEZING out, we still hit up Jeni’s together. Once everyone had a treat, we headed to the heart wall for some fun.
I love these girls so much. I try to pick models that I know will have a good time, don’t take themselves too seriously, and go with the flow. But I also love that while these ladies possess all of those qualities, they also are each so unique. Even more awesome… a few of them hadn’t seen each other in months due to the holidays and other commitments, but they picked up right where they left off. You can tell from the photos that they truly had a great time. In case you weren’t aware, a few of my girls are dancers. Kerry, Renee, and Megan happen to be ballerinas. If you haven’t seen the Piedmont School of Dance’s performance of the Nutcracker, GET YOUR TICKETS for this year’s!! It’s breathtaking. Anyway, Baylee had the hilarious idea to do a couple “Expectation vs Reality” photos. Lol. The results are fantastic and another example of why I heart these girls.
We ended the night with some pizza and games back at my place, which is often just as much fun for me as the actual shoot itself. If you ever find yourself in South End, make sure to check out the confetti hearts wall!
However you choose to spend this week, I hope you’re surrounded by those you love and love you most. Especially your best gals. Happy Galentine’s Day!!!
