Mackenzie’s Mooresville Senior Session
Mackenzie actually found me a little differently than my other girls. She contacted me as a referral from my friend Meredith who also is a senior photographer. Meredith had recently moved to GA and was expecting her first baby, so she sent Mackenzie my way. Mackenzie is a student at Mooresville High School and originally was just looking to intern with a professional photographer for her senior project. She and her mom both enjoy photography, so it just made sense to make that her focus. She shadowed me a bit, practiced on some of my models, and interviewed me (with some great questions, btw). I invited her to one of our model team meetings, and while she wasn’t sure what to expect, she took me up on it. The girls were so incredibly welcoming and genuinely nice, that Mackenzie decided she wanted to join too.
Like every Wildflower Senior Experience, Mackenzie began her senior session getting glammed up by Megan Oliveri. For my Lake Norman girls, Megan is a great option to have as she’s right around the corner and obviously very talented at what she does. Mackenzie was joined by her mom and grandma, which was really special. In her everyday life, Mackenzie is usually sporting a high school band uniform, so it was really fun to see her get all dolled up and look like a model in a magazine.
Mackenzie is super smart and an avid reader. As part of her session, she requested some shots of her in the library or book store. The only thing open that day was the Huntersville library, so that’s where we headed. She brought her awesome vintage typewriter too for a couple photos. I love when seniors want to really personalize their experience and make sure the pictures really reflect them. We didn’t stay too long, just for the sake of time, but I really enjoyed grabbing these photos for her.
In addition to the outfit options she brought for her senior session, I brought a couple favorites from the Wildflower Style Closet. Mackenzie really liked this plaid dress and denim jacket combo from Hazel & Indigo.
Mackenzie happens to be a NASCAR kid. I always love hearing my seniors tell me about their childhood and favorite memories. Mackenzie’s just happen to include hanging out in race cars. 😉 And in case you’ve been hiding under a rock, Mooresville is a huge NASCAR town. It was really cool using this area for her session. There also happens to be a little park area nearby, which was perfect to include.
While much of Mackenzie’s childhood includes NASCAR and Mooresville, Maine is where her heart is. I got to hear a lot about her family and favorite memories, much of which was spent in nature. So while I couldn’t bring Maine to her, at least we were able get some pretty shots that represent this side of her. Fun story… the photo of her looking back at me on the bridge? I had no idea when I asked her to do that, that her mom has an identical senior photo like that of herself. How cool is that?!
We headed back to the main downtown Mooresville area to hit a couple other sections I really liked. Also how adorable is this outfit?? This was 100% Mackenzie and so perfect for a more casual look that still looked fashionable. I loved it!
And of course no trip to Mooresville would be complete without a couple shots at the wing wall! We actually had to ask one of the restaurant valets to move some cars for us in order to grab these. So thanks, valet guy!
I’ve truly loved having Mackenzie on the model team. She’s talented, intelligent, a fast learner, and genuinely kind. I’m honored she chose me for her senior project mentor and as her senior photographer.
