Mardis Gras Event at Pine Island Country Club
One thing I love about Pine Island Country Club is that their event coordinator, Maura, is always putting together so many fun evenings for their members and even family activities. Back in the Fall, they hosted an invitational golf tournament for current and prospective members. At the end of the tournament, Maura threw an incredible Mardis Gras event at Pine Island Country Club’s clubhouse to celebrate a fun week.
They pulled out all the stops for sure. Chef Joy did a great job as always on dinner, the staff made sure everyone was well taken care of, and at one point I saw some card tricks happening in the bar. The decor was absolutely beautiful. Rich, colorful tones along with awesome props really set the mood. When you walked into the clubhouse, you were greeted by a photo booth (not operated by me, haha) ready for some fun, silly shots. My natural wallflower personality truly comes in handy at events like this. I adore being a “fly on the wall”, grabbing true candids of people having a good time.
So fun story…
Dan, their membership director, and I actually have a bit of a fun history. You see, once upon a time, I used to work for a locally owned jewelry boutique in Davidson, NC called The Jewel Box. His lovely wife, Joan, was our office manager for years. My fondest memories of working in the office with her was when she would always dance to Boogie-Oogie when it came on the radio. Or her consistent lunch of PB&J with Cape Cod kettle chips. Or her avid love of tennis. She was such a feisty lady that always looked out for me. Fast forward a good 10 years later, and who do I see but her husband Dan at the country club. Such a fun twist of fate!
People clearly had such a great time. Prizes were awarded for certain excellent golf achievements that I don’t really remember, because I don’t know much about golf. My award winning golfer grandparents I’m sure are a little embarrassed by that. Lol. There was music and dancing and lots of laughter. I even saw some card tricks happening in the bar area. Because of my schedule, I don’t do events like this too often anymore, but I always love them. It’s a great change of pace for me, and I love the images that come from these.
If you’re joining in on this year’s actual Mardis Gras, I hope you have a blast! If you’re in the Charlotte area and looking for an awesome country club to join, definitely call Pine Island! They’re known for being different than your stereotypical club. They’re fun, laid back, and clearly know how to have a good time. 😉
